Infertility is defined as having regular, unprotected sex for 12 months without conception. However, many couples after 6 months of trying to conceive will start to ask questions.
Fertility problems are shared equally between males and females and in about 30% of cases the cause of infertility cannot be found despite testing, this known as unexplained fertility.
Infertility can be complete, where pregnancy is not possible without medical intervention. Or there are varying degrees of subfertility, where the chances are diminished and the time to get pregnant may increase considerably.
